Do astatotilapia aenocolour need low protein diets? I had 6 but lost one to bloat from the crap they were fed in the store, swelled up horribly on the second day and just died. most of the others seem okay and one is even holding, but a few have not eaten in a few days and are still looking rather healthy. I've seen some of them, mostly the male, picking at the glass, driftwood, and rocks I currently feed NLS pellets and bloodworms. should i be feeding a higher fibre diet to these fish?

I don't think you need to be too concerned about protein, but I personally would discontinue the blood worm diet and feed NLS entirely.

thanks, my concern was weather have a similar diet issue to fish like tropheus and most other mbuna or were more predatory like haps. The bloodworms were more of a once or twice per month treat as opposed to a staple

The bloodworms were more of a once or twice per month treat as opposed to a staple, the remaining 4 are doing well, and the holding female is going to spit any time now, can see the wrigglers in her mouth
