Astronotus ocellatus is distinguished from A. crassipinnis by having a series of ocellated spots along the dorsal fin base, first light vertical bar above the anal fin base instead of more anteriorly; and dorsal fin count modally XIII,20 rather than XII,21-22.

Crassipinnis are found in Argentina, and Bolivia while ocellatus are found in Brazil, Colombia, French Guiana, Peru, Paraguay, and Venezuela.

So it's safe to say that you have crassipinnis. Very nice fish!

They look like wild ocellatus to me, hence the ocellatus (eye spot) on the tail, but then i don't know a lot about crassipinnis

I'm shocked Modest man is being positive for once instead of his usual Royal photoshopping negativeness.

Well according to the copies will have ocellatus f0 of ocelli on dorsal fin also losing birth specimens in captivity but .... Now therefore I do not think that is good only say that they are cassiprinnis by being caught in Bolivia because here there are many species of fish that are not recorded in texts. or many fish per books do not exist in Bolivia when in fact they exist.
knew that the origin of the ocellatus but I seemed very reliable, so I decided to post to make sure

pd sorry for my bad english
