Bought a couple of these from TangledUpInCichlids before Xmas, looking to see if anyone has raised any before or has some from this current batch. One of mine quickly dominated and killed the other in a 6ft tank, totally not typical for a 3inch "Oscar". The one left has grown into a beautiful jet black fish, but as it is now over 4" I am wondering when its bumblebee pattern will start to develope? The fish ignores all the others in the tank, but it holds its part against 8" Rotkeil Severums and large Geophagus.

It could stay all black. I have seen it before, just another strain from Asian breeders.

Thanks!

There is next to no information about these fish online, I am just taking what I know about wildcaught regular Oscars and assuming its similar. When they came they were black and had white spots(as seen on the TUIC website), obviously they have gone away. Sometimes I can see a very faint lightening on the top part of the body that looks like it could fade into stripes tho.

Much nicer than normal Oscars, if i could find a jet black one and a pure white one i'd love to have them, the usual types don't do it for me.

These are much different in personality as well, more aggressive IME and they dont do that whole pretend to be dead on the bottom of the tank thing during maintenance or because you moved a rock 2". Mine never did that when moved into a new tank either, just kind of looked around and claimed and area of the tank.

Nice oscar it will be interesting to see what he looks like in 6 months time.
