Had to share this story:

A friend of mine is a great fish fanatic and his showcase is a 15000 gallon Koi & Goldfish pond.

Last weekend some teens who thought they were being cool, dumped Dawn dish-washing liquid in his pond.
Needlessly to say he came home from work to find his pond full of suds and dead fish.

He has lost a total of 8 last I heard (all of them over 2 feet in length). One fish that is very sick but might pull through was his first Koi from 8 years ago, a 37 inch Ochiba Shigure.

I cannot imagine what I would do if I lost all that livestock. I told my wife I might get arrested if I caught the people who did that to my tank or pond!

I just cannot believe people can be so cruel!:irked:

i agree!!! BUT if these teens were little kids I would not recommend that. Take legal action :). I mean you wouldnt beat up a 5 year old would you? I would be having a HUGE talk with the parents. Threaten legal action if they dont pay for everything with a nice bonus :). And then tell her you have a niiiice little 12-gauge waiting in case any recurrence happens to take place in the future. Better yet have her sign a contract saying that you have the right to shoot them if you catch them on your property again.

He told me he has an idea who it might be but since he was not home he could not say for sure.
On an interesting note he said that 5 other homes in the neighborhood were vandalized that night ranging from bashed in mailboxes broken car windows and peoples flower beds being torn up.

So if they ever do get caught there will be some heavy duty fines at the very least.

I believe it. A pet store I used to work at had their koi pond display bleached several times (chain store and before I worked there). Killed all the little koi and goldfish, the store ended up having the display taken out because of it. The betta cups would get chemicals poured in and sometimes people would dump 2 bettas in one cup, even though they didn't fight it was pretty annoying. I had a customer come in with a water test from their koi pond and they told me everything died. The sample smelled like clorine, I told them it didn't need tested.

If someone did that to my fish I'd kill them if I caught them. You're totally justified.
