I have an 8 in common pleco from my lfs who i have had for 2 years. The first year I am sad to say I starved and thought they were only there to clean the glass. Then I found this site through youtube and realized I am suppose to feed them. I feel really bad about that year and am glad I just happened to put drift wood in there for him to eat, but I did not know any better. He currently eats either 1/4 cucumber, zucchini, or yellow squash, or 1/2 a mushroom daily. After cleaning his tank the other day I noticed just how much he poos. There is at least 3 feet being produced daily, and a large amount is white. At first I thought this was because he mostly eats white foods and when I feed him zucchini and he starts to eat the peels it is bright green. Also there are 4 bluegill, and none of them poop white. Am I overfeeding which I have is hard to do? Could there be a parasite, and if so how do I treat it.

my pleco poops white with black and i see no harm in it.

I was just asking because I don't know whether it is ok or not. The fish seems fine, but I have seen other posts from people with different kinds of fish who poop white and people say it is because they have parasites.

Mine is a mixture of brown and white, he doesn't seem to be having any problems though. he is going on a year and a half.

Mine's poop is either algae wafer green or driftwood brown depending on what he fancied most the day before. He's a Rhino pleco though, so there migh be a difference in that aspect.

It is starting to sound that I was just being a hypochondriac, which I would rather have been than not noticing. This is a relief because I really did not want to deal with parasites.

If he looks fine no sunken belly or eyes it probally is alright I found out the hard way white fesces not always meaning parasites. I treated for parasites and caused more promblems cause the medicine killed the biological filter. The pleco was fine and sometimes poos white green or shades of brown or black. Iv'e had it a couple of years and it is in perfect health.
