This little bastard is the devil's disciple. He's 3 inches and has been by himself for a few months in the 50 gal. I recently acquired a 2 and 3/4's inch Firemouth yesterday. He chased the thing around the tank like the last lap of the Daytona 500. No damage, but he's hiding by the plants. Was the Convict just trying to show him he's the dominant one? Do you think the Firemouth will adjust?
I'm caught between a rock and a hard place.
I don't want to return the Convict, for sentimental purposes, yet the Firemouth has always been my favorite fish. My dream is to grow a 6-7 incher. I know these guys can co-exist, so I'm hopeful things settle down.
In hindsight I don't think keeping the Convict by himself for so long was a good idea. He probably thinks he owns the tank. I've displaced the rocks and shrubbery in efforts to reestablish the hierarchy.
"Don't stop dreaming 'cuz this ain't over, wreck of your life, until you get sober"
