I'm worried about what I read in researching that they are masters of escaping the aquarium. The good thing is that they can survive out long, but the bad thing is I have a dog that could eat them If in case he finds them on the floor. At what age do they usually do this behavior? mine are only still around 7cm long and I'm not sure if they already have the power to jump out of the tank.

Any size any age here is a example of what escape artists they r I had the entire tank covered except one part by the filter there was a small hole about 2" wide and 2" across very small considering it was a 75 gal my old ornate I'd watch him he would swim tword the top position his body straight up and down perfectly every with the hole and and super man dive straight outa that hole like he would actually line the shot up b4 he jumped lol was really funny but not when I'd put him in the tank and a hour later he was at it again ..... Cover everything .... Some don't jump at all but some just want out of the tank it's just the luck of the draw
