At what size did you start feeding your eels whole worms?

Topic... how big did your Fire or TT have to be before you could just drop a worm in there and he sucked it up/took from your hand?

My dude finally ate in front of me yesterday adn I noticed I am going to have to cut them up smaller. He had some trouble getting it down and I cut the nigh crawler into fours. He is a foot long.

Mine has eaten whole earthworms since I got him at about 7" or so.

really? huh... I have been cutting them up pretty small now and he still seem sto struggle a bit getting them down. Grabs a bit, runs off and sits there a while "breathing hard" and then goes back for more.

he is up to eating 3 a night though.. I wish I didn't have to cut them though

How big are the worms?
He shouldn't be having THAT much trouble, don't they have large stomachs and small intestines?

I feed my red worms (red wrigglers) much smaller than nightcrawlers and he eats them whole.

He stopped being picky. the night crawlers are being taken whole now

he actually takes the worms out of the severums mouth... always wins the tug of war

My TT eel (Re-tread) has been eating whole nightcrawlers since he was 6"-7". Now he tears up shrimp--shakes it like a dog..LOL!!!!
