At what size does jack dempseys reach maturity

I've seen them breed at 3" in an aquarium, but in nature because of competition, they usually can't hold a territory until at least 6"-8". Almost all mature males I saw had mouth fungus from territorial battles, but over all were very healthy. The mollies averaged about 4"+, but some were almost the size of the adult JDs.
The male on the right below, was around 10"and had a territory about the size of a car.
They would totally ignore the livebearers other than an occasional attempt to eat them, but others JDs were driven away

With almost all larger ca cichlids its usually around 4 inches. Also around 4 inches is when a lot of cichlids start swimming around more. If you can look at your fish and see a tube or a tiny (needle point) sticking out in front of the anal fin, then that's usually a dead giveaway they're sexually mature
