I've always loved datnoids but my biggest tank is a 125 so I never gave them much thought. I recently had 11 days off from work which lead to a little googling and my intro to the AT. Question one, what is aggression like to non-datnoids? Profiles give them the same generic description every cichlid short of the heavy weights receive. Question two, this one is also very vague in profiles so how small is too small for tankmates? The tankmates are 8" rotkeil severum, 4" green severum(young and growing quickly), 2 7-8" geophagus iporangensis, 6" acarichthys heckelli, 7" crenicichla sp bellycrawler, and 3 4-5" silver dollars.

I have 2 AT's approx 4-5" in with 2 x 2" dollars, 7 clown loach - 5 less than 3", a leppard bush fish that's around 4" and they never bother any of them, forgot i have a golden nugget and a royal aswell! all are left alone. I have a few IT's in there and they bully the AT's, if anything they are soft arses, but look really good, hardly any stability issues.

Thanks for the info. Have you ben able to pellet train yours? Not sure I would want to commit to a special diet for just one fish.

The AT's have taken pellets from pretty much day 1, they were only about 1.5" when i got them but they were in with some general community fish that would eat pellets so i guess this helped.
