On and around the forum I hear that odoe and AFT are a terrible mix but everywhere else I look it only mentions FAFT as the bad mix. So my question is are there AFT species that aren't in contact with odoes in the wild and therefore a safe mix?

Honestly, I cant see an odoe being able to tell a difference between a fatf and any of the other striped varieties. I expect you'll get similar aggression from the odoe regardless of what tiger you put with it.

^Yep, these two types of fish are natural enemies and go out of their way to avoid one another in the wild. Putting them in our tiny glass boxes seems like a bad idea to me. I would never do it.

+1 chicx .... my odor beat the crap out of my Goliaths, the Odoe grows faster in the beginning, but in the wild the ATF has the last laugh because they have a larger max size ..... its almost as if the Odoe knows to kill the ATF while its small before it becomes a monster ....

Must be a strong odor! :p ;) lol

You're exactly correct in your theory of why odoes attack ATF, btw.

I was always thinking of AFT killing odoes for some reason instead of odoes killing AFT. Thanks chicx, dj, and monster :)

But apparently atf + dorado works because I have seen recent pics from someone having a numer of these in the same tank. I assume odoe and atf are both silvery but the dorado is more golden. By the same token, I think a atf + brycon will work?
