I got my GATF to eat Vita Chem soaked chopped up shrimp the 2nd day in his new tank, and he's proceeded to eat 3 cut pieces every time I've fed him since. I've been feeding 2x a day the past 2 days just to see what he'll eat and when he'll stop, and he takes everything I put in there, even twice a day.

Just curious on how much/often all of you ATF owners are feeding your fish? 1x a day, 3x a week, twice a day, etc. How much at a time?

He's about 6" now. I just want to get an idea of how often everyone else feeds theirs regardless of size, curious to see if feeding frequency drops as they get larger or not.

I feed twice a day. Have heard of groups picking on each other if not fed enough so I try to get them every morning and every night. So far everyone's doing great.

Biggest is maybe 6-7"

Usually massivore, sometimes Tilapia.

I think multiple feedings a day are best for the fastest growth, and as DB said help with aggression, but it wont stop it .... ATFs are not like bass where they can gorge themselves, they eat less, at one time, thus feeding them multiple times a day can help powerfeeding them ... it also is not uncommon for them to eat lots for a week or 2, then barely eat for a week or 2 ... they also eat less when shedding their teeth, and with healthy feeding, happens about once a month, and even more frequently when young since they grow faster

Maybe the fact that most people have decided it's necessary to put 30,000 gph worth of current in their tanks has something to do with it? The fish probably burn off what they eat in a matter of hours is some people's tanks.

I've found with fish that swim like crazy - Masheer, Dorado, ATF or rays like Falkneri, that the only way to get any decent growth out of them is multiple feedings a day......
