i have a 125gallon tank that's mostly african cichlids,9" red hook, oscar and some full grown tigerbarbs ...i want to buy one tigerfish and remove the tigerbarbs ...will this fish be fine in my tank ...i did use the search but didn't really get the answer i was looking for ..thanks

That tank is small for all those fish. You mention african cichlids, which? I see americans there like the oscar...I think if your oscar does not eat the atf when young, then the atf will have a snack on most of the fish that are small enough eventually. Experts on aft could confirm this, but I think they grow pretty fast those guys...and they grow large.

Personally, I would not mix those...

cyclop actually that's not true, ATFs get big but they are very slow growing.

The ATF would have to be at least as big as the oscars etc, and you'd need a bigger tank.

As already mentioned, they do grow slow (5-7" per year on average), but that tank is way too small for an ATF. A single Vittatus will require a tank with a footprint of at least 8'x3', due to their speed and nervousness. In the biginning of my experiences with ATFs, I tried with a 180g (6'x2'x2') tank, but by the time my ATF reached 14-15", it was crouded in that 2' wide tank.
