ATF long term care

Hi

Lets get real.

How many ATF keepers actually keep thier fish in suitable tanks?

My plans for my 5.5" Vittatus is to upgrade to a 6x2x2 and then in 18-24months to a 9x2.5x2.5.

I've had several ATF's over the years and the biggest i've had, grew from about 4" to 14". That was kept in a 8x2x2.

My current ATF is in a 36x15x15", he's doing ok. Expecting 3, 4" odoe pike today.

Will get some endy's, synos and maybe mid-water characins or cichlids (of African origin).

Just want some input.

i'd be the first to admit i'm not keeping my gatf in the best sized tank for it. but then again not everyone can afford 12+' by 6' tanks...so anyways, what i'm doing to better its conditions is:
1-blacking out sides & back of the tank
2-cover front of tank when not viewing fish
3-no stressful tankmates(only got bichirs in there)
4-STRONG water flow
5-MINIMAL external stress, i keep this tank barebottom for the sole purpose of not having to do gravel vacs & stressing him out.

furthermore my gatf is blind in one eye, which usually faces the outside of the tank. so for the most part he's as calm as a clam, and swimming happily against a current

Hey, don't get me wrong. I'm NOT having a go at us (as in we) tiger fans. And i agree about the right sized tank. I wanted a 10x3x3 but its way too expensive, almost double what i've been quoted for the 9 footer and i'll struggle to afford that!
To me ATF's are the ultimate predator. Just trying to do right by them.
