how large do the vitatus atf get? also does anyone know who is selling either the vitatus or the goliath? ty

If you are asking that question you are not ready for an ATF! No offense!
ATFs need HUGE tanks not just because of their size but also due to their speed, power, and the fact that they are rather jumpy. Beautiful fish though.
Id suggest an armatus or perhaps a dorado if you like predatory characins.

lol dorados are much faster and more swimmers then atfs and get just as big as the smaller vitatus. then u mention armatus. they get 3 feet. both these fish equal the smaller atf. the goliath gets 5 feet but thats not the one im asking about.
a 180 gal is way too small for any of them. if u were to pick, armatus is the way to go. if u cant get a bigger tank u could get a tat, that only get about 18'' and grow pretty slow. they are ok w most comm. fish as long as they cant eat them.

Armatus are not jumpy and dorado seem to be smart and know the boundaries of their tanks, hence a smaller tank is needed then an ATF would require. Speaking from personal experience of course :/

I was just stating that a dorado is much more powerful and faster then a atf of same size. im looking to go with a atf to grow out as a payara. if i can get these fish large enough i have no problem getting a 700 or 1000 gallon tank thus a vitatus would be better then the goliath cause from what i read on them they get around 25-35 inches instead of the 5 foot goliath but i did not know how large the vitatus got at first and thats why i asked. ive had payaras before but were the smaller variety so i just bought another for 25.00 at 4 inches and waiting for him to come to see if he is the armatus or not.sounds cheap for a armatus but the wholesaler doesnt know what kind it is and for that price i wasnt going to miss out. ill post pics when he arrives next week. does anyone know were i can get the vitatus atf because the wholesaler i deal with has never had any. thx for the input anyways.
if it is an armatus, he wont get along with an atf. he will outgrow him and eventually kill him. a tat and an atf might get along ok. an armatus will only get along with bottom dwellers. if u want an atf and payara in the same tank, tat is the only way to go.
