I have a 15" jardini arowana an have been asked to swap it for a 12" tiger fish not the goliath type is this a good trade ??

I would jump on it.I have seen one tiger any where near that size in the past few years.

Nothing that would compete for food,the bichirs should do nicely.

Call me crazy but I would do it in a heart beat! I tried to trade my old 7" Goliath for a yellow tail Vittatus (could not do it). Finally sold him and bought the guy in my Avatar.

VATF's are my F A V O R I T E fish and those who know how many fish I have put in the tank and sold the next week should know I found my fish.

Tankmates are fairly easy IMO. Anything not aggressive. Pike Odoe/Armatus/Doradro/Jardini (maybe calmer Aros such as Leichardti or RTG) are all out of the question (unless smaller than the slow growing ATF but still very risky. Especially with Odoe, last one Wooped on my 14" Goliath and Odoe was maybe 7-8". Was not fun at all)

I currently have mine with Bichirs, 4-5" Fei Feing and a 5" Kitumba Frontosa (had some 3-4" Red Hooks but took them out cause they were ugly...JMO)... no problems what so ever. Might be due to feeding? I feed daily... market shrimp and once a week Massivore.

for any ATF bigger than 10", id do it... Brevis, Vittatus or Goliath. You can always trade him for something you want since not to many people have them past that size

Cheers for the info mate your guy looks a real nice an chunky, the person im getting it from said he has been feeding on pellets which if is true would be a major help. Also would small cichlids like firemouths an convicts be able to live with it or would there be trouble. Cheers again pal.

It is said that pellets make your fish grow faster. If he is eating pellets, that is a + (Plus). Just ask him to feed him infront of you if you care.

As for Convicts, they will be fine... till about 5 or 5:30. Most Cichlids and ATF's are not a good combo. Only because most Cichlids like to chase eachother or are territorial and will scare the ATF and send him darting in the direction he is facing (in which will cause him to damage his snout little by little). Atleast the ones you listed.

Once ATFs get to a certain size (atleast with Vittatus) they tend to ignore tankmates for meals (even small feeders like 3"+ comets) but with silver fish they will attack (usually at night). They dont like Silver tankmates
