Here’s what I know
Atlantic tarpon:
Grows 8ft in the wild but in a freshwater aquarium often maxes at about 4. They grow about 1in+ monthly for the first 1-2 yrs then slow down dramatically. Grow out tank/pond of about 8x2x2 should be good for about a year then minimum adult tank size of 20x8x6ft high
Indo tarpon:
Grows to a max of 5 ft in the wild-rarely sees 3 fr in an aquarium. They will grow larger in a saltwater aquarium than fresh ( freshwater maximum about 2 ft but it takes a really long time) they will grow ~ 1 in a month for the first year under great conditions. 125-150 gallon tank should serve well as a grow out and they will need about 300+ gallons as an adult ( similar tank size requirements to p-bass, just slower growing)
This is what I have read- I have no real experience and am hoping someone that is experienced keeping tarpon will reach out. It would be helpful if you could share your experiences on
-growth rate (both species)
-tank size (both species)
- max size (in freshwater aquarium[both species])
