Dasyatis sabina is so beautiful. Why does no one seem to keep this amazing ray? If one of you does maybe you could tell me a bit about keeping one. I'm dreaming of getting one sometime soon, and would love to hear from someone with first hand experience keeping them. Thanks!

Not many people keep them because they are not true freshwater rays. The process they use to live in fresh water creates large amounts of urea/ammonia and it would take a large body of water to care for even a single small ray

If your not in a state where potomotrygon are illegal then they are not very practical to keep

Just my opinion

You bring up a good point, but I was under the impression that the ray's osmosis would adapt to a somewhat brackish water condition.

Brackish would be better for sure, I assumed you where going with a full freshwater setup because of where you posted.

I couldn't say for sure what percentage of urea released you would experience at different levels of salinity. If you end up trying it you should monitor your Nitrate levels at different salinity it would be great info for people who can't keep potomotrygon.

That being said it would probaby be way easier to just have a full saltwater setup. There are some very cool saltwater rays

Yeah...you're right lol There are a lot of other stingray choices. If I'm going to go I might as well go all the way. I'd still like to see if anyone on here has kept them.
