I seen a fresh water atlantic ray?anyone have any info on them? also
I have a 300 gallon tank 8x24x31h, i have a huge piece of driftwood and some lace rock stacked in front of the over flow,i am thinking about getting 2 hystrix, i have 2 gars,7 inch maybe, a few 1-2" cory cats a black crayfish 4" and a white crayfish about 3" does this sound suitable i have read all the threads,i sure hope this is doable, well thanks in advance.

Atlantic rays are saltwater, not freshwater. They cannot be converted, they are just saltwatter rays with the ability to tollerate low levels of salinity. The downside to this is, they produce 10 times as much urea (pure ammonia) as they do in saltwater. Even your 300 gallon tank would not match up to that. You'd need something as big as st.john's river. There have been a couple members here that have tried keeping D.sabina, it seems fine at first, and people start thinking it works, but none have actually made it past a couple months.

Hystrix would probably do OK for life in that tank.
Driftwood good. Lace rock bad, it would scrape up an inquisitive ray.
Corys and crays would be lunch at some point.

agreed. also i'm surprised that the gars havent tried to eat the crayfish yet

well the crayfish are alot thicker than the gar,i was actually worried about the rays being pinched, these crays get big,the largest iv seen is around 8-9in,,was just trying to put together a nice show tank,i really like the rays,i may decide not to go that way,i like the hysrtix because of the size but want a nice look to the tank nothing "boring" or common for that matter

Look at the price and availability of a REAL hystrix and you'll see how common they are lol...
