Can you keep these guys in florida and how big to they get minimum tank requirement?? also do they live in complete fresh water thanks Corey

tons of threads on this... do a search and you will find out all the info you ever need

Hey bro...I got one from Nick at NE-Cichlids and its just AWESOME! Yes you can keep these ones in Florida. Minimum tank size I would recommend like a 120+ gallons...For a full grown adult. And remember females tend to be much larger than males. They can be in either but one thing is if you get one from the St. Johns River directly they can be put in full fresh all their lives but if you get one straight from the ocean coast you can't since they are in Salt and acclimating it to fresh might be fatal. But im not sure with the laws in your states are but im sure you would need a permit or some sort to take a living organism away from its natural habitat. Check with john and see what he did to get his...any other questions just ask me or anyones.

thanks for all the great info' catfishlover106 would you get another??

yup i would get another if i still had some extra money floating around in my house...lol they can be kept together which is a good thing :)

They need 300 gallons of saltwater.....Minimum....

125 is way to small of a tank
and if you keep them in freshwater u need a major filtration system to make up for the extra urin they secrete from being in freshwater rather then saltwater

the release urea 10 fold in freshwater than they do in saltwater and yes it is too small for a full grown and old atlantic but you can still keep it in ther until 9-12" in diameter maybe more depending on the dimension of the tank. Mines soon to be going into a 400+ gallon
