I really want a sting ray but i live in florida so i can only get atlantic freshwater sting ray.my question is would one be ok in a 300 gallon tank with a ton of filters on it .(one of the stingrays from the st johns)

Couldn't have said it better myself. High end brackish or salt. Otherwise the ONLY way to keep it properly is to have a pretty good flow rate going through a drip system.

Do some research on these rays.... You'll understand what we are talking about.

why not just take the 300 gallon saltwater and get cortez rays and maybe a blue spot or 2??? much better looking imo

because i already have a bunch of freshwater fish that i need to upgrade there home shortly.and saltwater tanks are to hard for me.

salt water can be just as easy as freshwater ;)..... if your adding other fish your going to need some serious filtration.... and a drip system flowing some serious water....

The point is, atlantic rays are saltwater fish. They just swim into freshwaters. As a result from it, they need to pee more. What comes out is pure ammonia. Best to have a saltwater/brackish tank for them unless your tank is REALLY well filtered, maybe filter your tank about 7-10 times within an hour.

nobody keeps those rays for long in freshwater..........

i have a water turnover rate of 16 times an hour and i would put alot more filters on there.....but i guess what you all are saying is that there ideal home is in saltwater..
