I went to my LPS last week and walked around the CA/SA racks and saw this little Midas, about 3-1/2". Hes super cool/cute looking and already has a pretty big nuchal, and like an idiot I purchase him:screwy:

I didn't even have a spare tank and I feel that my 55g is full enough so I had to resort. Over to my 'ol ladies place and snatch her 30g tank and stand. Purchase a new filter, get it all set up and within 24hrs had it already cycled!

Okay... Long story LOL sorry.

My question is I would like to make him a community fish within the next 6 months and want to know if I should get another fish to go in with him now? So hes used to others and not a loner.

I could juggle some fish out of the 55g into the 30g and put him in with others in the 55g...

Any suggestions please!!?? Remember i have him in a 30g alone and don't want to crowd it.. Add something else for the meantime?

Thanks!!

switch him out with the synspilum and see how it goes.

I thought that too. My other comcern if the Lyonsi. Hes not aggressive at all. But the Syn and him get along great! They swim together all of the time!

The two of them would be fine in a 30g cause their both small!

I would just keep everything setup how you have it for now if you're worried about the midas hurting the lyonsi. Just leave him in the 29gallon for now. You'll know when you need to upgrade.

If it were me I'd try to put them all in the 55gallon and just watch closely.

I considered that as well. You don't think thats to many fish in the 55g? That would be 6 total.

what are the other 3..?

I have a Synodontis Cat, Med Gold Severum, (do you want him?) Redtail Black Shark, Lyonsi, Synspi oh and my lrg Front!

I guess earlier I wasn't considering my cat...

I've been thinking of pulling the Lyonsi and the baby Syn. Put them in the 30g and put the Midas in the 55g.

Your first encounter with your Red devil reminds me of when I got my first Midas. He is the one that really got me into the Hobby. Your Lyonsi and the baby Syn. would do ok in the 30g if you do water changes often.

Okay cool! Thank you for the input. I have the 30g over filtered but I have a regular once a week water change for everyone! LOL
