Attaching 3D back ground to acrylic aquarium

I am just about at that point to attach the new back ground I made to my aquarium. What is the best way to attach it to acrylic? I was thinking silicone, but wanted to make sure it wouldn't damage the acrylic (never had an acrylic aquarium before).

if possible use multiple magnet mounts. Ive seen some pretty nifty setups with magnets attached to driftwood, artificial rocks, etc.

But silicone will also work fine. Just messier.
