Attaching driftwood to rocks....

New member here from Delaware.

I was wondering if there is a way to attach a piece of driftwood to a rock. I want to build a “hiding spot” in the tank and partially surround it with plants. The driftwood has no base on it and so I want to anchor it to some larger rocks. Any ideas?

You can wait till it’s waterlogged. Or place rocks on top of the wood. Tie the wood to the rock or
Drill the rock with a masonry bit and anchor with stainless steel screw.

I have it soaking in hot water as we speak
I can see if I can find a thin piece of slate to drill through (the rocks I have a fairly thick) and rest the rocks on the slate base. Thanks!

I drilled a hole in a 1" thick piece of basalt then attached a piece of wood with a stainless steel screw. That was ehh... ~15 years ago and it has not caused any problems.

Thinking I might have to drill the driftwood into one rock then drill that rock onto another one for added weight to hold it down....and give the fish more room to hide under it

If I get concrete masonry screws would that affect the water? I have these Tapcon screws
