I’ve tried twice now to attach my driftwood to pieces of slate with silicone. When I pick it up, it just slides out of the silicone. This is the wood piece;

And the slate pieces with the silicone still attached;

Not sure how to make it stay at this point. Any suggestions would be welcome.

Why do you want it on slate? Should sink if you give it some time.
It’s been in for over two months and it won’t stay completely down. Maybe patience is wearing thin.
Also I have a 9 1/2” syno in there who tail slaps a lot, and I want everything to stay in place. I was going to bury the slate in the substrate.

I've used aquakneadit. Two part epoxy putty. Pretty regularly used by reefers to attach corals to rock, so I figure if it's good enough for people with couple hundred dollar fish it must be good enough for $25 fish.

Large pieces of wood, especially those that are dry all the way though can take upwards of 6months to a year to fully stay down on their own...

I’ve had pieces that took over 8months to fully submerge in the past...
