How do you guys attach fx5 to acrylic tank with 4 inch deep acrylic on the top before the lid holes?
Do you drill them for the hoses the intake would stay fine without the bracket
but the output wouldn't stay in so good.
I would have to drill into top with 3 20" arowanas in the tank so can only drill from one side is this possible?
thanks

I thought about this when I was looking for an acrylic tank. I'm hoping that someone answers it for you. GL

If your tank top looks like ours did, then yes you can drill holes in the acrylic. Our tank looked like this when we got it

We drilled 4 holes in the top for two additional mechanical uptakes (with bulkheads) and 2 holes for the FX5 lines.

Our fish were already in the tank, so we lowered the water level, and I held a piece of cardboard under the area being drilled to catch the debris.

I would be scared to death to drill holes in a tank, but then again, I don't know what I'm doing.

I was scared too--I envisioned the whole top of the tank shattering or something. The section that was drilled is 5" wide. We drilled 2" holes, which only left 1 1/2" on either side of the holes. My husband used a new appropriate drill bit, and by the third and fourth holes, I had complete confidence that the new tank would not be ruined, and that my husband really did know what he wa doing!

if you look in the fx5 manual they have a part for this, you put the u clamp around the edge going into the tank and then they have a L thats on suction cups to stick it to the inside corner

I saw the fx5 L bracket but My arowanas are big and I wan't to keeps lips all the way closed. I will probably silicone around pipes when done hooking it up also.
