Attention All Emperor and Cichla Community People

I am wondering how many of you keep emperors and cichla together. The main reason I'm asking is because I want to know what pH you keep your tanks at. My pH will drop down to 6 and it has killed a front before (or at least that's the only plausible explanation I could come up with).
 
that's what I was thinking. I used to have 7.5 tapwater and that was good, but now it's like 6.5 so I'd have to raise the pH. It's a lot easier to lower it safely. I don't really need another 3' cichlid, either, lol.

that's right, forgot you do. where are the pix at? if i could get my pH safely to 7.5 and keep it stable, i would add an emp.


you still interested in the ocel?
 
i kept 3 emps with my monocs, they were about 10" ea
the water is brownish from tannin so i'm guessing the Ph is really low, but these guys outgrew the monocs. btw i never check my Ph in any of my tanks, but so far i havent got any casualties (apart from the occasional snacking lol). IMO the emps are far more tolerant and tougher than what most people think
 
besides the pH.... i HEARD its a hit or a MISS situation... meaning some do get along and some just kill eachother..... hope you think about what your getting into and if it is really worth it....:(

well, besides that, I don't want to bother with raising my pH, so I'm just going to pass. I'd rather have more Cichla anyway :D
