its actually sort of a good thing that it happened while he was a kid, in a sense.... if it happened later in life he may have given up on himself, but children seem to always have the urge to get up and do stuff, which probably compelled him to be the person he is today. really awesome, thanks for sharing liz.

children are much more resilient than adults. much of it has to do with their natural innocence and naivety. As long as a child with special needs has positive influences around him, he will overcome the odds, as this child obviously has had. nice story . . .
