i bought a armatus approx 14 inches. he is in my 180 gallon now. i plan on feeding once every 2 or 3 days as i do not want to powergrow this fish as its already beastly. how long do you think i can keep him before hes to big for the 180? ive had scombs before and what a difference between the two. im hoping to get a 1.5 -2 years out of his tank. the one thing that annoys me with any of the payara types is they like to run the glass until they figure out the borders and by then they usually rub there nose flat. lol the member i bought if from on here said it grew real slow until he got it off live food and on tilapia then it grew like a weed. im hoping they slow down after certain size. i know quite a bit about scombs but this is the first time for a armatus so any input from armatus keepers is appreciated. thank you fellow members

here is a few pics. ill probably put a couple up in the photo lounge as well. previous owner (lewis) fed him tilapia. i hope he enjoys walleye because ive got that and krill to feed him. oops forgot the pics

So it's 14 inches already and growing fast? You might not have much more time with it in that tank.Is it very active, skittish or calm?I've heard of them becoming rather claustrophobic and bashing themselves silly against the glass if they get startled and don't have enough space to handle their bolts of speed.

ya im hoping now that its 14 inches it might be about the time when the growth rate comes to a slow. he is active but not skittish. i flashed him with the camera and it didnt phase him.

Yeah,it looks like a bruiser but it's good to see that it's on the calm side of things.
