ATTN Armatus owners! Some feedback please

Ok I miss my armatus and hink I am going to get another which is about 12-13" or so. Question is I heard horror stories about armatus popping out other fish's eyes? Has this ever actually happened to anyone? Who keeps in a community tank and with what? I want it in my community tank but will die if I wake up to one of my bass or perch missing an eye or something but I love armatus! I kept them in a community before but not with as many fish as I have now and the only thing they fought with was the GATF... any feedback and/or opinions would be greatly appreciated

Yeah there are a few stories of the eye thing. Wait till John gets on this... he has Armatus, Tats and vatfs together with some other tankmates.

I think 1 or 2 Armatus and 1 or 2 Tats have poped/bad eyes.

Im ganna need it too as I plan to add my Armatus in maybe a month with my 12" Goliath
 
mine has never did the eye thing... he just tries to kill anything i put w him.

i think its a big risk, and it could go either way. 50/50 chance of it working out.

i think the biggest factor is ur tank size.....
 
I had my last Armatus take the eye out of one of my Tats. I don't think it was a deliberate attack on the eye as there was a scrath down it's entire head......eye just happened to be in line with the scratch. I have had a LOT more trouble with Dats thieving eyes than Armatus. My current Armatus tank is a PTC, 2 Odoe pike, 3 spotted pictus, 4 baby rays, 5 golden Armatus........... LOL Sorry they aren't really golden but I was on a role there.......
 
I dont think an armatus will target the eyes are their physical build just doesnt make that an easy task, however I can see a fish getting its eye poke pretty easily when scrapping with an armatus. From what Ive seen with cohabs the more fish the better (Milokai) so who knows...

Would I risk it with your fish....HELL NO!
 
Michael.. bro with your collection bro I wouldn't even risk it...if you want 1 really bad gat a tank and keep one solitary; I've seen a single armatus in tank all by itself and it was pretty impressive; of course the armatus was huge...
 
yeah I want one bad again but want it to be in my community tank. Its much smaller than the rest of the fish so thinking maybe it would be ok but.... well see
 
honestly,esif i were you.
i'd do it.
there is a chance it would work pretty well and would be an awesome looking community.
