Attn: Medical Professionals

I need some advice from any MFK Medical Professionals. I recently aquired M.R.S.A. and was perscribed Doxycycline and Rifampicin. I am 5 days into a 10 day treatment and am experiencing some serious G.E.R.D. and pains in my side. It's bad enough its keeping me up at night. I'm not to concerned about any damage to my esophagus but more concerned about renal damage. The Doxycycline states G.E.R.D. as a possible side affect and i'm prepared to live with it for the next 5-6 days. The Rifampicin states hepatotoxicity is a possible side effect with possibility of perminant damage and at the moment I am feeling some pain in the area. I have already experienced Hepatitis A so my liver has already felt a few kicks.

My questions are:
1: Should I be worried about possible liver/kidney damage?
2: Is there anything I can do about the G.E.R.D.?
3: Is there anything I can do about the gas?

Quarantine for at least 2 weeks, raise the temp. to 86*F, add a Tbsp of salt for every 5 gallons of water, leave the lights off, and keep up on the water changes....


If that doesn't work, consult your physician.... you never know what internet know-it-all might give some bad advice.

1. Is your liver currently healthy? Elevated liver enzymes? If you are not aware of any problems than I would not be overly concerned.
2. Eating before you take the med may limit GERD. You may also want to take an antacid such as mylanta etc.
3. Many antacids also have an anti-gas ingredient called simethicone.

yeah, liver is all good and I figured everything would be ok, i just wanted a second oppinion. My Doc is out for the summer. (Greece) The nurse warned me that this is some bad stuff, to be aware of any changes i may notice. thanks for the info.
