I have one in a 20 gallon. Decent sized shrimp.. maybe 3.5" long. Anyone house one before? What did you feed it..? I read it filter feeds.. makes sense with the pairs of feathers it displays at dusk.

I keep them and sell them. Have been keeping them for about 5 years or so. They need a well established tank with a good bit of flow as they are fan filter feeders. Crushed flake or very fine foods put into the output of the filter are a good way to feed them.
Crushed flake, crushed shrimp food, free floating algae in the water column.

How do you manage to breed them? I thought they needed salt/brackish for the free swimming plankton babies to mature properly?

Thanks for the feeding advice. I give him ground up Crab Cuisine and Spirulina flakes. Absolutely loves it. Gets along great with the cherry shrimp babies too. I think he's like a foster dad or something. lol

i realize this thread is over a month old, but i was wondering if anyone knew where i could get one of these? i've tried googling and can't seem to find them for sale. thought this would be a nice addition to my 40g community, like a bigger fatter version of my little bamboo guy
Msjinkzd has them sometimes, Arizona aquatic gardens has them most of the time, Sometimes Aquabid has them, a few other places online have them also 11.00-26.00 Plus shipping is usual. I got mine locally so that is of no help to you
