what type of fish can they go with. I read they eat small fish. would they do ok with my two tinfoil barbs that are 8-10 inches big.
how big do they get I heard 5-6 inches max, is that true or a lie?

yes that should be fine. Provide it someplace to hide. They like to jam themselves in places to hide. Also dont put them in with more predatory fish. i kept mine with a bichir for all of 20 minutes. The catfish thought it was hidden and the bichir thought it was food.

Also dont put them in with more predatory fish. so you are saying the tinfoil is predatory? my tank is a decent size 225G tall.

No you would be fine with tin foil barbs. I wouldnt consider them predatory at all. I was just adding that predatory fish like bichirs are a bad idea. But tin foils would be fine, especially with that size of a tank.

cool I also have some silver dollars. I don't know which midnight to get, a lady has 2 of them that are 3-4 inches and wanted 10 dollars for them, or maybe it was each.
I saw a full grown one at a lfs for $25.

5-6" would be max size for these guys. If you're looking for something active and entertaining during daytime I wouldn't get them.
They're shy and don't come out much when there's light out.
Mine will sometimes but only if there's food and they're really hungry.
I really like them but they do better with lots of places to hide and tankmates that are peaceful, not so large that they pick on the catfish but not so small that they'll get eating by the catfish.
Tinfoild barbs seem ok as tankmates but I'd worry about the max sizes. I've never kept tinfoil barbs but I'd be weary of a 14" barb making a meal of one of my plump 5" catfish.
