G’day from the Aussie in Ohio folks! As I mentioned on my moba grow out thread, I have been given an opportunity to acquire an AUL from a friend moving to Florida from Columbus OH. I will be moving the moba group to a 125gal with a handful of Mdoka white lips I bred last year. The current inhabitants of the 125 will move over to the 500gal; 25” fire eel, 5 pyrocephalus, and 14 clown loaches.

I am starting this new thread in light of the fact that tomorrow I am driving to pick up said AUL. In addition to the AUL I am acquiring 4 bala sharks and another 9 clown loaches. Here’s the AUL a year ago. Apparently he’s pushing 30” now 😅

Here’s his new friend, the fire eel…

My original plan for the spring was too empty, resurface the view panel of the big acrylic tank, and move it to a different wall in our basement, but some unforeseen circumstances have prevented that from happening this far. My friend moves in 2-3 weeks so I have to make the pick up happen tomorrow to give him time to pack up etc.

I found 2 nice pieces of wood bush walking by a local lake recently, and have been soaking them for weeks. Today I pulled them and power washed them. They’re about 90% water logged and will make a great centerpiece in the 10’ tank. The span in the configuration shown is 5’ end to end and 24” tall at the highest point. The tank is 30” tall so this will fill the space nicely.

I have some additional pieces in the 125, and will be getting some more from my friends indoor pond, some with plants attached. I was initially worried about adequately filling the 10’x3’ footprint with a nice wood based scape for the AUL & eel, but I’m gonna have plenty of structure to work with after all.

I will update this thread more as the plans come together, and post new pics of the moba & Mdoka in the 125 once they settle into their new home 🤙🏼

I’m pretty stoked about this new set up! I’ll be back with more pics and info soon…
