Hello members. For anyone that has been curious about whether or not an AUL can tolerate subtropical temps, I have confirmed that they can live in waters of 50 degrees. Currently, I have my AUL in a tub with mahseer and Geo's (wintering) and they all are doing well. The water has dipped to about 52 degrees at night and has gotten up to about 60 on the hottest days. The tub is in my garage, so it doesn't have the ability to warm up as much as I'd like. I am building an outdoor pond for them and the AUL should do well out there.

My location is San Diego, CA. The air temps have been in the 40's at night here and get as hot as 60-80 degrees in the day time.

Thank you and I hope this helps.

Chris

Interesting. Another member in L.A. told me the same thing about the AUL. He plans to build an outdoor pond for it. Great info.

Makes sense to me! They live locally around here and that sounds like general winter temps for Brisbane (at the coldest). I only plan on heating my tank minimally for the other inhabitants.

Thanks for the confirmation though, good to know. Would you keep a younger fish at warmer temperatures?
