So I cleaned my 210 gallon yesterday and find that only 1 of 4 shellies are still in the tank. I have a feeling it is my AUL that is eating them. Can anyone tell me if AUL's are predators or are they more opportunistic? My Calvus and Paracyp's are fine and accounted for.

I think it's time to get some rock dwelling Tanganyikan cichlids, at least they can hide.

of course AULs are opportunistic predators (as many predators are). all lungfish species will gladly take on any meaty (and often veggie) food item they can fit into their mouths. as i was growing out my small AUL i kept it with some various sized Australian rainbows...as the fish got bigger it went from helping the smaller rainbows to disappear to the larger rainbows.

these are very much still predatory fish and will take out small fishes quite readily in most cases--

Thanks for the information. I guess i'm going to take my chances with what I have left in the tank.

Thank you for the response.
