Hello to you Rift Lake Fanciers!
I just purchased a fish at a store in Austin called Amazonia. They labeled it Aulonocara Mozambique, but had no pics and I have googled it as well with no results. All they could tell me is they THINK it is darker blue and similar in coloration to a red shoulder peacock. Any help on this? OMG, does anyone have a photo or seen one? LOL. Obviously if they were bigger, I would be posting the pic and asking for help on ID!

I've heard of Protomelas 'Mozambique', but not Alonocara.

I was told it was a new "strain" along the lines of a ruby red. I also bought a strawberry peacock there. Half the fun of raising these is to see how they color up. On the other hand, knowing what to expect helps some, too.

No help on this yet?
Please note how this plea for help cleverly gets this post back up the stack! LOL
Come on gang...Aulonocara Mozambique...anyone heard of this? What does it look like as an adult? Any pics?

Well if it some sort of hybrid or line bred fish there wont really be any information on it. I have never heard of that one and cant find any info on it.

Ive never heard of it, at least not a auloncara with that name. SInce the shop told you they were a new "strain" and they shop carries strawberry peacocks (a known linebred/hybrid fish) I would assume that it is a hybrid or man made auloncara of some type. Thing about hybrids is you never know how they will look, could be boring or could be spectacular. Its luck of the draw. You will likely have to repost pics as the fish grows and colors up (males should color up at 3-4 inches). Sorry i cant be more helpful LOL.

Stay tuned for pics...they are only 1 " now. LOL. And if anyone sees pics of this "line-bred" fish, please direct me to them!
I did find pics of strawberry peacocks and they are pretty darn cool!
