Well yesterday i notice my second bigger males holding a mouth full of eggs..the only reason that happens is that is really a female..this is so difficult..i now know that i really cant sex my small aulonocranus..:irked:
well time will tell..but a great news is that at least i have one of each gender..!

i think that the change to my DIY Frozen food is the guilty..:D

well now to the important stuff.. THE PICS..:headbang2
im a little ashamed about the pic quality but is the best i can do...:(

This is the little bastard that will answer me for his actions..:grinno:

Confirmed/proven pair now:grinno:

if someone could advise me how to raise the fry..cause its the first spawn in my tank..

should i strip her or let nature take its course..?
what to feed the fry or can she take care of that too..?

its my first spawn and dont wanna lose it..

will the other tankmates have a easy meal..?
i have calvus and caudopunk..but both are young too..smaller than the aulonocranus..

Yes the other tank mates will have an easy meal. Honestly I would wait at least two weeks from when she first started holding. Then at night after the tank has been dark for a few hours grab her and put her in a 10 gallon q-tank. (If she is getting really beat up then go ahead and pull her earlier.) Keep things dark and hopefully she wont eat/spit the fry when you move her. Then I would just let her release by herself. Don't expect many to make it. The reason for the wait is that you wont have to tumble the eggs if she spits after moving her.

If you really really really feel you need to keep as many fry as possible go ahead and grab her at night and then strip the eggs and tumble them yourself.

The fry will grow large enough that you can put in crushed dry food for them to eat. (Don't feed till they are at least free swiming.)

well my female is the one beating up tankmates..including the male & the bigger calvus..:D
the female is the second larger cichlid in my tank..with almost 5cm and the bigger is the male with 5cm..

thoes that change the situation..?

Def. get another tank. I have never moved or attempted to strip a female. I have no more room for fry so they are on there own w/Comps. and Calvus tank mates. I think everyone knows how they fair.....
