Hello i am intrested to put some tankmates for my aurantimaculata he is currently 35cm in a heavy planted tank with chiler..Anyway. Are any fish good to deal with my big male fella? Sub tropical of course. Summer 25C winter 19-20C

Hahahah.... nope! I tired and anything that didn’t kick the snot out of him... he ate or just killed.

Not now , i need upgrade soon but thinking 750L

You don't need that tank size for a single Auranti.
You don't want tankmates with an auranti either.

My pair killed literally anything that hit the water.
Hell, I'm sure some of my frozen prawns died a second death to those beasts.

Even if you discard the fact channas shouldn't have tank mates, ever, no matter what people say or what people post on youtube, you still face the temperature issue. They need a swing in temperatures that very little fish can take, and those who can are ridiculously insignificant to a channa's killing instincts.

Ohhh.. so better a smaller tank? Like 450L ? He is temporary in 240..... i know is too small but i m planning to build a 2000 now and i ll run out of money so.. he ll rehomed in 5 months

I would say it depends on the maximum size of a fish, not the amount of water it holds . I calculate a minimum tank size as follows;
Length of the tank at least 4 or 5 times the max length of the fish.
Height of the tank a minimum of 12 inches/30cm.
Depth of the tank at least maximum size of the fish.
It never hurts to keep them in a bigger tank though, the bigger the better.

I would say atleast 5ft long by 16 inches tall and deep for Auranti's

I have him (he is a boy) in a 1,20m 0,50height 0,40 depth. I can upgrade in 5 months. Will he have problem ?

Most people agree they are the spawn of Satan... Get it a mate maybe?
