if you don't mind me asking, how large did they get?

The male got to around 4", 4 1/2", the female a little smaller. Really fast growers tho they got up to that size in no time.

that's perfect. Anything special I would need to know about them? temperament, diet, tank setup, etc? I'm probably going to get a half dozen @ 1" to grow out in a biotope-like setup in a 55g

I mostly fed mine Hikari Cichlid Gold and NLS and gave them the odd treat of bloodworm, whiteworm etc. That seemed to sout them fine.
