G'day, I'm really interested in Aussie Natives, I have my own basic freshwater set up, which currently has 2 Barramundi's ,1 Silver prch, 1 Eel tailed catfish, and it is also temporarily housing a Murray Cod.

I was wondering if everyone could post pics of their native freshwater set ups.

Here's my basic set up, with pics of my fish, I know my tank is sorta boring at the moment, but as time progresses and I get more Ideas, my tank will be improved. Of course as usual, any advice would be highly appreciated. Cheers...

I've kept some barra's and native cats before.

I hope you have seriously considered future housing.

My barra was an awsome character always hungry though (then again arnt most fish lol). Used to be hard for my other fish to get a good feed unless i tricked him and lured him to one side of the tank and got somebody else to chuck pellets in the other side.

What size tank is that bro? they still look small?

Some wood would look nice in there

Nice Barra mate. Yeh I'm gonna eventually get a bigger tank, and put the Barras in it together because they seem to have bonded to each other, the Murray cod will get his own tank, and I'll put the perch in with the eel tailed catty, with a few other perches. Thanks for being concerned for me fish though 8) it's good to see.

It's only a 4 footer, the largest barra is 14cm, lol, he's a monster, I'm thinking about trying to find some drift wood, I reckon it'd bring life to the tank also 8)

Would anyone here suggest chucking a coupla little yabbies in with an Oscar in a 4 footer????

Have fed yabbies, i pull their claws off though.

Man 4 foot tank u better start planning that upgrade quick!

They grow so quick its crazy man, are yours off live food yet? Mine used to annihilate pellets, i never fed any feeders.

My tank is 6x2x70cm atm, he was approx 35-40cm when i sold him.

He didnt tolerate any shiny fish (archers, scats etc) and used to chase them around as soon as i turned the lights out. Other fish he was always fine with except when i first introduced them, he would be right on their tail and occationally try take a grab. Once he settled down he was fine with them though, they seem to pick up on injured fish signals and its like they cant help it but to try eat it. Was fine with fish larger than him though.

Yeh, I got them on pellets, I'll chuck in the odd feeder now and then though. Lol, as soon as I figure out where I can put a new tank, and when the funds come in, I'm gonna get that bigger tank, lol. The barramundi get on find with the perch and the Eel tailed cat fish, but if I chuck another fish in there it usually disturbs the peace.

I have seen people doing that, but I reckon you'd need a big enough tank for them to feel comfortable that they have their own territory.
