Hey guys, haven't posted much on here but after reading posts on Aussie lungfish here for the last few days my head is swimming (pun intended?).

I pay for my new little guy this week (hopefully, just waiting on my invoice) and should receive him end of next week, so I'm just finalizing tank stuff now. While I have tanks ready for him now, his own personal 5x2x2 tank arrives on Friday and will be set up and running by Sunday night (knowing me, I'll have it done and running by Friday night, ha!).

I figured it would be great to just ramble on about my plans and see if I could get any current keepers to let me know if I've planned anything wrong, anything to keep in mind, etc.

Plans!

Lungfish: Currenlty 25cm/10in or so

Tank: 5x2x2 (eventual upgrade to a 6x3 or 6x4 when required), figure he has plenty of space to move and turn around in this tank.

Filter: Current, fully cycled fx5, will be getting a custom sump made for the tank in the next few months but will likely run both or continue to run the fx5 on the sump as a backup.

'Landscape': Going for a basic river sand and rock setup (much like local rivers around here), still iffy on plants and probably going to go for some basic thick val for now. 'Squiggly' driftwood, more like long roots. I have a few pieces collected and will see how they look once the tank is up and running.

Tankmates: At the moment, an 10cm or so archerfish. Plan WAS to go with a sailfin pleco for tank cleaning but wondering now if that's a great idea. Pleco is currently about 15-17cm. Large school of some sort of locally native rainbow, rhad or blue eye. Eeltail catfish of sorts?

Food: I'll be purchasing frozen cockles/mussels, beef heart and keeping a worm farm going for nice big fat happy earthworms. Algae wafers already on hand, and thinking of trying Hikari massivore delight as a treat if he likes them. Also planning on breeding low quality cherry shrimp as feeders and possibly breeding native shrimp as feeders in the future.

Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions!

Don't worry, I will! I'm sure I'll have photos from the point the box arrives at my door. I'm so excited, this has been something I've been planning since 2008 so it's a long time coming. Finally gave in and decided to just make it happen. Had to sell everything else to do it, but worth it for me. =)

I not sleep at night from worry for your AUL if pleco in there always prowling at night!! And poor AUL not very aggressive, not very active, just lying there with pleco on top sucking away on AUL flesh. NO!! STOP!! NIGHTMARE GO AWAY!! Must calm down and breathe...breathe...not my tank, not my fish...breathe...breathe...
