Hello
I am sure people here who have kept aussie lungfish have kept them with plecos before.
My question may seem a little asinine to those that have, but I have been told / read, that as they are not the most active fish (they are cute, they just doddle along the bottom of the tank) plecos will suck on them (the way plecos suck) thus removing or affecting the lungfish's slime coat.
If any fellow aussie lungfish owners can chime in with their experiences with keeping them with plecos it will be very helpful.
Are plecos perfectly fine with them? If so what type of plecos do people keep with them?
Thanks MFK peeps.

I've never had a problem with plecos in with my aussie lungfish. I have a 13" chocolate/yellow Hypostomus plecostomus in with it now. I also keep a 24" Brachyplatystoma tigrinum and a 10" Eleotris picta the tank is a 560 gallon/2116 litres. I have had no problem keeping bristlenose in with him in the past. He is over 36 inches/91 cm long.

My Royal Pleco was eaten by my lungfish a few years back. Everything was fine then one day I heard crunching from the tank. I couldn't belive what I was seeing. The Pleco I guess small enough to fit in its mouth. It was a while ago but I read up on it to see if anyone else had this happen and their were others. But like I said, I think it was because it could fit in its mouth.

I have a Common Pleco that was handing around my AUL to much lol. I didn't want to risk it so I moved the Pleco. I understand your concerns and personally I wouldn't risk it. Common Pleco $5, AUL $700

Good advice. Will stick with bristlenoses for the mean time to help with algae. It is impossible trying to catch fish in my tank after putting them in there.

:ROFL:lol my bad I had a African Lung fish. Total different fish. I should learn how to read better!

Ha ha. Yeah Aussie lungfish are not very aggressive. And are such slow movers.
