This is probably easier for the Aussie folks to answer as you would know is available here in Australia.
Setting up a new 6x2x2. I really have no idea what way to go in regards to stocking it. I want to go natives or some biggish fish. I love peacock bass, snake head, jungle perch, but I don't know what are compatible with each other. I would like a mangrove jack, but I don't think he would play nice with others?
Any suggestions?

I would go with a Jardini toga first off. I have one and they are simply full of awesome. Snake head are illegal in Aus and you really don't want to get caught with one.. trust me. Mangrove jack would be good for the tank, but as for as tank mates go, it all depends on the fishes personanilty. Some just want to kill and some are really quite placid. Peacock bass will go great in a 6x2x2 with the Jardini but will outgrow the tank. Jungle perch will be fine, depending on the other tank mates. I have an 8x2x2 stocked with a big fat arse barra, nice jardini, a dovii and 3 peacock bass and despite the fact the barra tries to eat the peacocks, they all get along without any hassles what so ever. Look into grunter and other non mainstream natives too. Bass are another option, although I have never kept them I have heard good things about them. Look at Archer fish, Tandanus catties, golden/silver perch..

If you are wanting larger fish, medium sized central and south american cichlids would be the go.. jags, doviis, syspilums, red devils/midas cichlids.. just do a bit of research on the different types of cichlids and natives, watch a few youtube vids etc and get back on here and let me/us know what interests you the most. You could even try your hand at freshwater rays and such if you don't mind upgrading tanks later on.

I must ask: What filtration system are you running? Big fish = even bigger bio load so good quality filtration systems is a must!

Thanks for a weapon of a reply champ! I had ideas in my head about what I wanted but people keep suggesting fish and I google them and I didn't even know they existed lol. Hard decisions. I was just going to go with a boring ol barra lol, but I just fell in love with the peacock bass.
I just sold some archers I had in a brackish tank. I want to go back to Freshwater. For filtration I'm running a 4ft sump. I was going to go for a fx6 but I don't think it will keep up.
I'll research some of those fish you mentioned and get back on here.

No worries, I am running a 4ft sump under my 900l system. Don't get a barra, they are extremely stupid, boring dull fish that cost a litttttle bit too much to feed.. I only have mine because I have a soft spot for him. Personally I would get a school of cichlas, a jardini and a few other cichlids of choice. I kept a full aussie native tank and it was just too boring IMO. I like to mix it up a bit.
