Australian Lungfish growth rate?

what's up guys? I am contemplating buying a Australian lung. but i want to know how long it would take to get big enough to go in my big tank. Meaning it would have to be 2' before it goes in the big tank if not bigger. so How long would that take if I bought one that was 5-8"?

any help would be great.

my experience is that they grow slowly

Slow is ok I guess. I still am looking for a fish to buy that's either a nice monster or something rare. And an AUL fits the bill either way. they are pricey but for the rare factor it's about the most expensive fish I would ever consider.

I got mine at 6" and now 12" in 3 months and the growth rate seems to slow down at 12". Proper feeding of the right food and doing water change also helps.

if u have a chance to get an australian lunfish do it u wont regret it they are awesome fish

Well Howard (breeder) says you will have no problem keeping 2 in a 4x2x2 for 3-5 years so that should give you an idea as to how slowly they grow.
