not me personally - murray cod is probably one of the aussie natives ive never owned. But one of my friends had one in captivity (backyard pool converted to pond). A genuine 1.2m beast. It was fed massive fillets of fish bought from supermarket. Went through 1kg per week. Unfortunately, it had to go after his neighbour claimed it ate his cat and living in "unsuitable conditions". Don't know if it really ate the cat, but I would have commended the fish for getting rid of a true pest haha. Sad to see it go but he was expensive to feed.

Hahahah wow I can't believe it might of eaten a cat, that made my day, must of been a sight to behold, I can't imagine theres too many 1m beasts left in the murray system letalone in captivity. Awesome, would love too see some pictures if you have any!

I reckon he could have swallowed a whole rockmelon no problem. He was mean as anything aswell wouldn't hesistate to attck your hand. I wish I still had the pictures but they were on my old phone. It was a sad site to see him in the ice slurry

I saw a recent documentary on the Murray cod and the measures they've taken to ensure they can travel up dams. They measures and tagged quite a few specimens over 1.2m!!!

So there still a few big ones out there!

Awwww what they made you euthanase that beast!!! This saddens me.:swear:
Good to know there a re still some monster cod out there!!
I've alwas wanted to catch a big MC, I imagine it would be like hooking a cinder block with a tail.

There was a ladon here a few years ago with a 2 foot murray, I had one a while ago, it was only about 20 cm, I have a new one now. It is best to get them on pellets while you can, don't spoil them with live feeders all the time, or that's all they will want.

Yeah i've heard that about them, makes me worry about feeding my Jack livies all the time!! If I starve him he will eat heart and pellet's though, not easy! He knows I will usually give in and give him a gudgeon. :wall:

Wasnt mine, belonged to a mate. But I had to help him put the guy into ice slurry. Was no easy task 2 guys with telescopic nets chasing after a fish that probably wasnt afraid of us. It was a miracle nobody fell in with him.

what a waste!
