I’m planning to use an auto drip with an upturned elbow in my sump for dirty water discharge. How does it work when I shut pumps off for feeding and sump fills up some due to pump being off. Obviously the water would drain pretty quick out the upturned elbow, but wouldn’t I have low water level at pump once it’s running, until the drip catches up hours later?

yup, its basically a "mini water change" to ur system. Just test pumps off and make sure you keep enough water to restart ur system when the pump/power comes back on. I run my sumps a bit higher than normal to compensate for this. Its nice to have some extra water to siphon out turds/food as needed also with the system still running and also gaining that mini w/c that fills up itself in the next few hours. Use an elbow and a piece of pipe to be able to change the sump water level easily/as needed.
