so i was at my lfs and i saw that the had an ehiem "automatic sludge remover" and i was wondering if any one has one or know if they are reliable because my lfs is charging 70$ for it and on my budget thats a good amount of $ and i have 3 aquariums so if this battery opperated machine works i would love to have it.

p.s. the reason that i would like this is because the water recycles back into the aquarium (i would still do water changes) but this would be easier to clean the sand and the gravel

save your money and get a magnum 350 or hot 250 and the power kleen gravel washer that is also made by marineland. They may even offer it in a kit.I use one and its the bomb.

just to inform, it is sand at the bottom of the aquarium but it is a heavy sand so i dont know if that makes a differance or not?

ken 429: i just checked out the items you have suggested to me but my aquariums arnt that large, i have a 20L, 14, and a ten gallon, my parents have a 110g for their monsters but mine are small and i think for my planted aquariums this will be a bit to large

I always thought these things were kinda goofy. Why not just siphon to a bucket and wait for the crap to settle and them pour it back in? thats what I do if I feel like I didnt get everything and run out of fresh tank water.
