Hey Guys.
bit confused with this one was hoping someone could give me some feedback-advice on my plan.
I have 2 ideas not sure which will work best, I am still a bit confused on what parts are required for the drip system.
first idea is have a water drum with a pump which connects to each sump, the pumps on a timer that goes off every day at x time. I manually dose prime to barrel and fill it up again each day or install a float valve off in the barrel and connect a hose (not too sure how to do this)
then I drill my sumps install a bulk head and overflow pipe at the set level. the drain runs outside to the garden. OR use a cheap pump but again lot more tweaking.
issues I see with this is getting the right levels to each system will be a bit of a struggle, I have 5 sumps and each system has a different vol. I was thinking use a valve and just tweak it but how do I check how much is enough id be aiming for 10% a day.
My second idea is use a normal drip style system but I am still unsure how to set this up for multi tanks? I have read most of the threads on here seems i would need to.
- tap into the water line
- have a carbon filter (which will have to be changed = higher costs then prime or safe)
- then split this line into 5 lines each runs to the sump.
- set the drip to the right amount (not sure how to do this again)
- drill the sumps and have the old water drain out
could anyone name the fittings-parts I would need to do this method?
am i missing anything? which method would you go with?
Thanks in advance.
