I want to put a Cherrybomb Glasspack muffler on my 03 Mazda B3000 3.0L V6.

The muffler comes in 3 different lengths but I dont know which one to get. Off the top of my head I think the sizes are 22", 25", 28". Would the longer one give a deeper rumble and less high end noise?

Im trying to get it to sound like this:

id do the mid size one with the reverse flow. all three will sound about the same. the design is basically straight thru with small louvers raised up. the sound of the exhast will depend on which direction of flow it is positioned. the reverse flow will give a deeper perceived sound and less drone, and straight flow will be louder and less tones will be muffled

umm cherry bombs on a import...just buy one of those obnoxious large canteen mufflers and be apart of the fast and the furious

Usually the shorter the muffler the louder it is. That said I wouldn't do a glasspack unless you know that's what that guy has. I would just do a flowmaster or something similar. I think a glasspack will be too loud. And I'm unsure a glasspack would obtain that sound exactly.

I'd get something more specific to your set up. What other mods do you have? Exhaust tone has a lot more than just a muffler to make it.
When I dropped the stroked motor into my car, my tone dropped. When I slapped the blower on it, the car roared like mad.... all with the exact same exhaust set up.

Im not sure I follow, are you saying installing the muffler on backwards will give it a different sound?

That's not what im going for. If it ends up sounding like one of those it'll be coming right off faster then it went on. I find alot of the cherrybombs when installed on v6's sound more like 80's Porsche 911's at low to mid rpms. If it sounds ricish at high rpms I don't really care cause I baby my truck and it's rarely at high rpms unless im entering a highway on-ramp.
Just incase you didn't know a mazda B3000 is a pickup truck. ;)
A Ford Ranger with mazda stickers to be more exact.

Although the flowmasters sound better I dont really want one cause every other truck on the road has one. If I could pull off a unique sound that doesn't sound ricy, I'll be very happy.

An old friend of mine had a cherry bomb glasspack installed on his topaz. The topaz had a 3.0L Vulcan v6 (same engine as mine) and I recall it sounding very deep with alot of low end rumble. Overall great sound from low to mid rpms although I forget how it sounded at high rpm. :( Not that it really matters.

I have no other mods. The whole truck is stock.

Would positioning the muffler closer to the (forgive my lack of automotive knowledge) catalytic converter? produce a better sound then say, having the muffler a foot or 2 from the end of the pipe? Also does anyone know if O2 sensors are located in the pipe behind the catalytic converter or in the exhaust headers? I dont want to cut one out by mistake. :screwy:

i had one... i know what they are... ;)

just making sure =p

o2 sensors vary. Some vehicles only have 1 on the exhaust manifold. Some have multiples along the exhaust. Best bet especially since it's a truck is look underneath real quick. It'll have a wire coming off of it so you should notice it if you're looking/cutting. If you know what the cherry bomb is going to sound like then go for it.

I don't think muffler position in the exhaust system makes a huge difference. But maybe someone else can answer that with more certainty.

Edit: I just read something that all cars by 1996 had multiples so you probably do have one after the cat, as well as one on the exhaust manifold.

Glasspacks sound pretty cool. I'm not sure where the muffler is located on that car. I do remember that glass packed mufflers can be burned out quickly if the are installed too close inline to the exhaust manifold. They are made to have a good bit of pipe to reduce the direct exhaust heat they receive.
